Blue Cheese Buffalo Wings

If dude food is your thing, then chances are you LOVE chicken wings! They’re a pub classic, but we’ve got a home made version that’s much healthier.

They’re cooked in an air fryer instead of a deep fryer, which makes great tasting fried food with up to 80% less fat. The turbo star fan system rotates the hot air, giving an even crispiness that you could never get in an oven… and once they’re cooked you’ll see just how much fat drips off the wings into the bottom of the tray.

The blue cheese gives a great flavour punch to the sauce, which is made with yoghurt, a healthier alternative to mayonnaise.

Blue Cheese Buffalo Wings

Serves4 as a starter

Cooked in30 minutes



600g free range chicken wings, tips removed, drumettes and flats separated

4 long celery stalks, cut into thin sticks

Buffalo Wing Sauce:
1Tbsp unsalted Lurpak butter, melted

60ml (1/4 cup) hot chilli sauce

20ml (1 Tbsp) vinegar

½ tsp Hoyts Smoked Paprika

Pinch of Maldon Sea Salt

Pinch of ground Pepper

Blue Cheese Sauce:
3 Tbsp Castello Blue Cheese

3 Tbsp natural yoghurt, unsweetened


1. Set Philips Air Fryer to 180c. Place the chicken wings into the fry basket and insert into AirFryer. Cook until skin is browned and crispy, about 26-28 minutes.

2. While wings are cooking prepare hot sauce by adding all ingredients into a small pot and heating on medium until butter is melted.

3. For the buffalo sauce, place Castello Blue cheese in a bowl and mash with a fork, then add yoghurt and stir through.

4. Place celery sticks in serving dish.

5. Once wings are cooked toss them through buffalo wing sauce and serve hot with celery sticks and blue cheese sauce. Enjoy by hand.
