5 minute leftover rice n sauce dinner

Leftovers are a big issue in many family fridges – if you’re anything like Kimberley and Jonathan you have bits and pieces of random foods in your fridge. We’re going to show you how to make something special out of them!

Oce of the most common things leftover is sauce – especially from thai curries, stir fries or even pasta sauce or stews. There is so much flavour in these, and it’s shame to waste them. So we love to grab leftover sauce, plus any leftover meats or veg, and cook them up with some rice in a big pot.

To make a super quick 5 minute dinner for your family, grab some pre-steamed rice from the pantry – we’re using the family size pack of Sunrice pre-steamed Brown Rice. Brown rice is a great way to get whole grains into your family diet.

5 minute leftover rice n sauce dinner


Cooked in5 minutes



• 1 cup Leftover red curry sauce - thai
• 1 cup leftover roast chicken, meat removed, or any other leftover meat
• 1 x 450g Sunrice family size microwave brown rice
• 1 cup frozen peas or any other leftover vegetables
• 1/4b coriander
• 1/4b mint


1. Heat leftover red curry sauce and leftover chicken on stovetop until hot.
2. Add rice, straight from packet to the pan. Once warm, add peas and stir through.
3. Serve and garnish with fresh herbs.
